Personiv is proud to announce that it was recently recognized by The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for its implementation of the organization's "5S" methodology both at its Coimbatore site and in the digital workplace with the National 5S Excellence Award in the Service Sector category.
5S is a five-step methodology that aims to create and maintain a productive and organized workplace that reduces waste and increases efficiency. Research from CII maintains that when implemented fully, the 5S process positively impacts employee engagement, reduces lead times and produces higher-quality work output. Each year, CII awards the National 5S Excellence Award to organizations in manufacturing and service sectors that demonstrate an outstanding understanding and successful implementation of the methodology. This is the second year in a row that Personiv Coimbatore was recognized as a 5S leader in the service industry for companies of the same size, earning it the additional distinction of a Sustenance Award winner.
Nominees for the CII National 5S Excellence Award must undergo a rigorous assessment to participate, including a self-assessment, virtual interview and onsite visit from a CII Assessor. The final stage of consideration is the presentation of each participating company's implementation strategy and results before a panel of judges.
The onsite audit of Personiv's Coimbatore site resulted in an upper-percentile score for implementation, but it was the team's final presentation of their 5S implementation process that clinched it. The team spearheading the effort in Coimbatore was able to demonstrate that 5S can be successfully applied to the digital workplace through the use of unique naming conventions, shared folder structure and a data cleansing process that reduces digital clutter. These efforts in particular made Personiv a standout competitor for the award in a pool of participants that focused primarily on applying the 5S methodology to the physical workspace.
